“Christmas nuts and happy hearts... this is how the season starts.”

08 December 2014

Christmas comes but once a Year

Christmas comes but once a Year, and it did, on Monday 8th December. With the Worshipful Master, Bro. Joe Tambe in the Chair, Masefield Lodge held its 986th Regular Meeting after which we retired to the Festive Board to join our Families and Friends to enjoy the traditional Masefield Lodge Christmas Party. A chance to catch up with those we have not seen for a while, and a chance to share a word with that band of Masons fondly nicknamed “PIGs” (permanently invited guests) who we are delighted to see at every Meeting.

As usual, the three-course meal, with a choice of Turkey, Roast Beef or Baked Salmon, washed down with a Christmas tipple, was not for those on a pre-Christmas diet. After the odd mince pie or two had been consumed it was time to exercise our lungs with Christmas Carols followed by the legendary “Twelve Days of Christmas” introduced as always by the flamboyant one and only W.Bro. Mike Bunn (Acting DC).

Being aware that morning and work would come only too soon, and not wishing to outstay our welcome the festive gathering was concluded by 11.00pm, but will be repeated next year with a new Worshipful Master in the Chair.

The hard working Tombola team raised the fabulous amount of £575, this amount will be split equally between a Charity of the Worshipful Master’s wife's choosing, and Masonic Charities. On this occasion Loretta has chosen the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Registered Charity Number: 1143118 to receive half the amount raised. A cheque will be sent to the Charity as soon as possible.

Merry Christmas!

Happy have we met! Greg and Louise, half of the Tombola Team Dressed especially for the occasion and waiting for Father Christmas to arrive W.Bro. Keith Prescott, always welcome, especially with a flash “Christmas Tie” Jim and Tammy performing great work as the other half of the Tombola team Mike and Rita Bunn. The Social Events organisers The Acting Junior Wardens Table, Rounding the evening off with the “Parting Song “
