Ever considered becoming a Freemason?
We hope that this news page will help show the breadth and diversity of our Masonic
activities (mostly charitable, sometimes purely social, always enjoyable) and
that this will encourage potential future members to come forward to find out
more.
There are many ways of doing this, take a look at What is Freemasonry and the informative "UGLE
Booklet Download". The
next step is then to make contact with one or more Masons ~ if you have a friend,
colleague or neighbour who is a Mason, you should feel free to raise the subject
with him. You will generally find that any Mason will be happy to talk with you,
and to put you in touch with a Lodge Secretary. If you have no existing Masonic
acquaintances, by all means contact us by e-mail,
giving us a few details about yourself and why you are interested in joining.
Masefield Lodge meets seven times each year, on the second Monday of the month from October to April inclusive. Each month's meeting begins usually at about 6 p.m., when the Lodge is opened, minutes of the previous meeting are read, followed by the general business of the Lodge, concluding at around 7.45 p.m. This is followed by a Festive Board in the Dining Room, where we enjoy good food and interesting conversation amongst Masonic company. These meetings are open to Brethren of the Lodge, and their invited Masonic guests. The Lodge calendar is further enhanced by our numerous social events, to which Brethren are encouraged to invite their partners, family and friends. Over the years, Masefield Lodge has enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including:
- A steam-train outing with lunch on board
- Skittles evenings
- Curry nights
- Greyhound racing (with dinner in the grandstand restaurant)
- A trip to the pantomime
- Lunch on board a narrow boat
- A trip to a Polo Match

Our Contribution To Charity
From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the
sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given
to national and local charities. Masonic charity is exercised at every level; individual Lodges make gifts and give aid
to their own local communities and every Province also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Nationally,
our efforts are channeled through four main charity organisations, they are:
- The Grand Charity
- The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys
- The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution
- Masonic Samaritan Fund
At a more local level, Masefield Lodge makes donations to organisations such as St. Mary's Hospice, Macmillan Nurses, Meningitis Research, Cancer Research. It should also be noted that donations are always Strictly Charitable.
